We expanded our reach to students and teachers of three rural schools in remote areas of Hunan, Ningxia, and Sichuan provinces in 2017. In collaboration with Tianjin United Education Assistance Foundation, we set up a total of 22 book corners at three schools, which benefited more than 670 students and over 60 teachers in the current school year and many more over the next few years.
In collaboration with ICCCI, we organized an online exchange between students in two rural schools in Ji County, Tianjin, China and students of the ICCCI Chinese School in July 2017. This was the first time that these rural students communicated directly with their peers outside China and learned about reading experience from their peers.
We promoted Chinese culture in local communities through various events in 2017, including the Indy500 Kids Day, ICCCI Chinese School annual picnic, Carmel-Xiangyang Sister City Mid-autumn Festival, and the Indianapolis Chinese Festival. With support of many volunteers, we shared Chinese culture through fun games with kids who attended these events.
