Our Story
Who We Are
Children's Eye on the Globe (CEG), is a newly formed 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit based in Indiana. Founded by the same team of China United Education Assistance Foundation (CUEAF), this new organization will continue its charitable purposes to serve disadvantaged children in rural China by providing the access to a better education, and to help disadvantaged children in China and the U.S. gain cultural competence and be better prepared for the increasingly diverse world through educational and cultural exchanges. We believe that education has a lasting influence and we provide opportunities for children to receive a better education. CEG is a partner organization of the Tianjin United Education Assistance Foundation (TUEAF) in China, with whom we collaborate to implement our education assistance programs in China.
What We Are Doing
In U.S., we bring Chinese culture to children of different backgrounds in local communities. The current and future programs include cultural lectures and interactive games in classrooms, public events, summer camps and 1:1 tutoring. Through these programs, we hope to prepare children to understand and appreciate other cultures and be ready for the world stage when they become young adults.
In China, the differences in the quality of education between city schools and rural schools remain substantial. We focus on rural area of China and currently have such programs as book corners, happy classrooms for left-behind children, school improvements, student field trips, scholarships, cultural and education exchanges, winter coats for Tibetan students, and teacher training. We are working closely with rural schools, teachers, and partner organizations to help more kids receive a better education.
What Our Impact Is So Far
In Indiana, we have taught Chinese culture classes with interactive games to IPS students at Mary Rigg Neighborhood Center and foster care kids in the Villages. We have also brought Chinese culture and interactive games to Indy 500 Kids Day for the last three years and have attended multiple community cultural events. Through these activities, we introduced the Chinese culture to kids and communities that usually do not have an opportunity to visit China or learn about Chilnese culture.
CEG, together with CUEAF, has been dedicated to serving disadvantaged students in China in collaborating with TUEAF for over two years. We have provided funding to rural schools to improve classroom conditions, including donated 120 student disks and chairs and 4 computers to a primary school in Hunan in 2018. Since 2017, we have built 27 book corners and have donated over 5,100 books to four schools that did not have age-appropriated books for students. We have brought Zangpao (winter coats) to over 400 Tibetan students if two schools that do not have heating systems. We are also providing scholarships to two Tibetan students in need to help them continue their studies. It was the generous support of all donors that made all this possible!
Moreover, during the last Two years, we have pioneered the long-distance learning through a video conferencing platform between students in China and the U.S.. We also initiated innovative English training by inviting experts and volunteers in the U.S. to teach teachers of rural schools in China English via WeChat. Through these activities, we seek to build the cultural bridge between the students and teachers in China and those in the U.S..
